NBN Basketball Report Player Spotlight

I got the opportunity to watch Morrilton High School take on Ozarks High School on December 2nd. There were a couple players on both teams I was eager to see. Cheyanne Kemp, the senior combo guard who signed with Weber State and Briley Burns, a senior forward who signed with John Brown University. Both players played well, but it was Johnna Brockman who stole the show.

Johnna is a 6’0 post/forward who came with it. She started off a little slow on the offensive end, but she was dominating the paint with her early shot blocking and defensive rebounding. Morrilton jumped out to a large lead and kept it through half-time, but Ozark made it a game going into the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter was Johnna’s time to shine. She contributed 10 points in the final 8 minutes to fight off Ozark and lead her team to a victory. She ran the floor well and got into a good low post position. Johnna does a good job of gettin big and wide on her post to seal the defender behind her. She has a soft touch and shows good footwork around the basket.
